We had that one down as a Cricket Doug although I'm now partial to Chorthippus brunneus the Common Field Grasshopper.

That's very likely what it is there Fred, the Common Field Grasshopper. It's definitely not a field cricket, and locusts don't usually swarm over the English Channel, and probably a good thing they don't too. You"d think that the Common Field Grasshopper, might be just a bit more common though. dvg
