The patio snacks now lapped up, the still hungry fly slips into the venue's interior for the fine dining experiences rumoured to be had there...

The Sarracenia are covered in flies today, there must have been a mass hatching of pupae. I think the Sarracenia will be singing this evening. The flies are also developing a sugar habit. I'd have supplied some photos of them on the Sarracenia but Big Spidey's web is blocking me. We've still not seen her but with the size of the web and the distance between the threads she's a biggun. The Labyrinth Spider got a Greenbottle. She's fast

Your Sarrs should be singing up a storm tonight, though i am somewhat saddened in knowing that poor Herc will go without his supper again, like it flew right up and outta his mouf. Fred, the sugar source for the flies look like raisins...were they fallen grapes from your vines? Regarding the Labyrinth Spider, yup that's the quality that really freaks people out about spiders... ...especially when "She's fast " dvg

Sultanas, they're for the Blackbirds The Blackbirds must love to visit your place Fred. Do you get that many of them there feeding on the raisins? dvg

In the breeding season we have many Blackbirds filling their beaks. The Starlings also join in during their shorter breeding spell. Then they all disappear for their summer/autumn holidays That just leaves us with a Pyracantha looking like a Christmas tree decorated with brown baubles. The Sparrows, of course, don't eat sultanas.

Just curious if the Blackbirds are still around to also dine on the ripened Pyracantha berries, Fred. Great to see you doing your part to help support a healthy midlands population of fat and sassy Blackbirds. dvg
