Noticed there were a couple clusters that stood out above the Crowd there Fred.
The tall narrow reddish pitchers with green lids center, and to their right the equally tall but larger mostly green colored pitchers - which two are those Fred?

The red is S. flava Red Tube Apalachicola and the green is S. flava Copper Top which hasn't coppered up yet.

I realised late on that I hadn't taken a photo of the flowers of S. purpurea ssp. purpurea f. heterophylla for some time. So here is one taken at 2015 hrs today

The mystery for today. Why/how did this S. minor end up like this?

Looks like the mealybug and some scale insect had set up shop there.
Just curious if there was a whole line of scale insects on that fault line.
Maybe by removing them caused those fault lines to separate.

That's a brilliant theory Doug. Unfortunately it fails on the discovery that there is no scale or mealy bug. The white bits you see are the remains of guano sprayed in through the top vent , ruddy pigeons. The bit you've interpreted as scale is just a blemish.

Fred, has your pitcher come into direct contact with any tits to your knowledge? dvg Not to my knowledge Doug. I've asked MrsG and she says not to her knowledge either. We do see our neighbours tits quite regularly but neither of us have seen them in the greenhouse. They're a very industrious pair.
