The rain has been skirting around my home. Over the past 10 days there have been instances of streams gushing down the roads within half a mile of here but did I get it? So far July owes me about 450 litres.

I'm in a similar ancient mariners boat Fred, We did get some rain yesterday but nowhere near enough to satiate my bogs, they have very nearly dried out, I have run out of stored rainwater and reluctantly had to resort to my 200GPD (it actually makes less) RO machine to keep pace with the evaporation rate. Like you I need a good sustained downpour, preferably during an overnight period, to redress the balance. Sunday may be the best short term option.

Well it rained for a long time yesterday without dropping very much rain (again). We didn't get this under a coalition government. These Tory cut-backs are getting very austere.

Still awaiting a decent rainfall. I watered today so that was another 100 litres used. The garden is like the sahara, I'm having to hose regularly.

Even the showers that they promised faithfully would appear today seem to have bypassed us, I'm upgrading the status to Atacama.

We had a heavy shower that lasted about 3 mins. I must have collected close to 8 litres

Two new 250L barrels procured. I'll lose a smaller barrel ( I think it's about 150L ) as I need to use that space but it improves my storage capability. I bet next year will be the wettest on record now.
B&M ( selected stores) have the Ward slimline 250L barrels @£29.99 and the Ward stand is £9.99. Wilkos have the equivalent slimline 250L @£30.00 ( currently out of stock online)) and the stand @ £13.00

I sincerely hope you have them plumbed in now Fred as it looks like we may get some earnest precipitation in the near future.
Cheers steve

The new barrels are sitting on 24" (2FT) (60cm) square paving slabs and already to receive offerings. I had to do a bit of juggling of plants in the Fernery but it looks like it's turned out better than before. (I have relaid the existing slab and can put a stool down there and I'm completely out of view to MrsG) A bonus of these barrels is the childproof lid which is slugproof. No more slug stew needing skimmed off before the water can be used.
The old storage barrel turned out to be even smaller than I thought. I calculated the volume at 110 litres, very deceptive.
Wilkos now have the barrels back in stock.
The stands ( Ward Strata) can be purchased from Amazon for £7.49 each, shipping free on orders over £20 if you can wait for delivery.

I paid a blooming fortune for one , what a plonker I am , still the best purchase in the last twelve months though. You've got to get some rain soon Fred, a naked dance around the garden , pagan style may do the trick, definitely give the neighbours some gossip material

Wow! what a deluge that was not. From the three greenhouses I got a maximum of 75 litres. That's barely a watering. I think someone told it to go west.

Will the drought end this weekend? Watch this space.
I'm still using more than is falling. Just as well I had a good reserve.
