I hacked down my oldest plants,they were looking scruffy ,must of been well over 5 years old I reckon, turns out they came back much healthier, happy with my decision,not a sunny day so pic is not the best . Only three maybe four plants when hacked back to the roots,no flowers this year, grown under lights for the winter and didn't get cool enough, maybe?

The plant above got no setback with winter yet the plants in the pot next door tended in the main to die back. This is the state of regrowth from the roots.

It's a regular occurrence to lose the top growth on Drosera when you don't heat in winter Doug. The thing with these is you can never predict which winter will get to them.
