If anyone was wondering what became of one of the original pots that had become overgrown with moss, here is an update on that mossy pot. The ant fern leaves were able to grow above the "junk moss", so i left them in the bag. The last time I checked, pea-sized rhizomes were hidden in the moss covering the pot. The rhizomes have now begun to emerge above that moss, and have survived, albeit slower growing than the ant ferns in the other pot. dvg

Still waiting for the sorus to appear on the undersides of the fronds. These were started from spores thirty- three months ago, so the sorus should be appearing soon...hopefully? dvg

They're certainly growing well for you so unless there is some kind of trigger required for them to produce sorus you'd of thought they'd be produced soon,

They'll be mature ferns when these sporelings are ready... In the meantime, i won't have deal with cleaning up the mess of dropped spores. dvg

These sporelings were started from spores about three years ago on Nov. 7, 2018. They haven't made any spores themselves yet, but they are beginning to grow side branches out from their main stems. Will try to post up on these again when they finally get to the spore-making mode. dvg

Just noticed a tell-tale bump on one of these antfern leaves. It was only one bump on just one leaf, but that leaf's other side revealed spores - for the first time here! It took just over three years for this to occur with these spore grown sporelings, but at least one of these antferns has moved on from the sporeling stage and is now a mature fern. dvg

Nice going, I'm sure more spore loaded leaves aren't far behind, do you plan on sowing more from your own spores just cause ya can?
