Well the promised and eagerly awaited rainfall failed to live up to expectations, with not enough rain to change the colour of some freshly dug earth in a bed I was preparing, but just enough to dampen the grass and surfaces in the shade for this chap and scores of others to find some new green shoots. Rain can be a fickle lover
Just when you think you're getting some,
she drops you, and falls for another!
That is quite the shell on that snail.
Do the birds there eat them Steve?

They tend to be well ensconced in the deep undergrowth most of the time, but I think they must get preyed on as they are a good food source. I dont see any broken shells about the garden, so the birds must take them elsewhere to break them out.
Cheers Steve

Snail shells tested, between rock and beaks,
the crafty song thrush pecks and seeks
to settle this armoured embargo,
to thus release the precious cargo...
...and dine again on prized escargot!
