The flower stalk is still showing progress, despite being moved outside for our summer here. It is grown in dappled sunlight and in open air with west facing exposure. Seems to be liking the great outdoors with a new flower stalk emerging. dvg

Still have hope for this pending flower despite it already being 31°c here today and warmer temps being forecast for tomorrow. dvg

Hi ygwws, no i haven't tried pollinating this cross yet, so don't know if this is even a viable candidate for self-pollination or for further crosses being made. dvg

Another update on this hybrid clone, with three flower stalks now pointing north. The largest flower stalk also has a couple of offshoot flowers forming from the leaf axils below the apex flowers, the first time that i've seen that occur here. dvg

Noticed the nectar spur has a barb-like shape to it, similar to a fish hook. One now opened, with another on the way. dvg

The other side view of the barbed nectar spur. Some alpina on top and right, alpina x campbelliana laying low. Have really started to take a shine to this easy to satisfy Utric crossing. dvg

Check out the insect wing veining patterns on the open flower below. A closer peek at the opening flower. dvg
