In a new lot of plants was Erepsia lacera. It arrived with its own passport. The plant was a little dehydrated on arrival so I'll hold the photos until it's looking happier. Needless to say it's re-potted and staked to keep the branches straight as it recovers. Eventually it's a 30" (75cm) shrub with magenta flowers that remain open 24/7. Apparently the pollinators love it. Future hope

Unfortunately this plant on close inspection was found to have mealy bug in the flower buds. I reported this to the seller who immediately gave me a refund on the plant price plus a tiny bit of the postage, there were 2 Glottiphyllum in the same order. He also asked me to destroy the plant. Apparently the Erepsia shouldn't have been sold. The others have been withdrawn from Ebay. As for the passport, that doesn't cover common stuff like mealy bug. It's for the real nasties. The authorities just ignore the common stuff.

Anyhow. I now have a replacement plant which is mealy bug free. I check it regularly with my model painting eyes on plus I gave it a good dose of Provanto to be sure . I'll be keeping a good watch on it just in case this species is susceptible to pests.

Eventually it's a 30" (75cm) shrub with magenta flowers that remain open 24/7. This little internet gem is pure nonsense. The flowers open in the morning and close in the afternoon Where do these things come from? Anyone who has grown the plant would know the truth. I caught another little nugget last week with a Lithops seller declaring his plants were all flowering size as they were double headers which is a sure sign they have. Pure nonsense. I have double headers which haven't flowered and single heads which have. Soap box put back in the shed

A back up plant To clear up the flowers controversy. Fit young flowers open mid morning and close mid afternoon. Old flowers stay open. I do have a teenage flower that struggles to do anything unless it's very sunny though. It seems to sleep in very late and by then it's too late to bother doing anything.

The heads don't look the same when they've finished flowering.
