It was finally mild enough to hose off the soil on the Begonia roderickii tubers. ( NB it's a Begonia given to my mother-in-law about 65years ago by a man called Roddy [Roderick] so not a valid species name, it just looks interesting on the labels ) We've had discoveries in spring of grubs that have overwintered in the tubers in the past so every year we now clean them off. Now it's just a matter of drying them out and then storing in vermiculite in the cellar over winter. I've just checked and in my extensive library of my own plants I don't have a photo. MrsG must have one in hers so I'll see if I can add one later. It's a small flowered double orange and I've never seen it for sale. Some have come close but never quite matched it.

My largest begonia form of the year, it’s a full 7” diameter, unfortunately I can’t remember what it looks like.
