I wonder how they would do completely left outside in winter if I removed the tray so excess water could find a way out, I have a spare and may well give it a go next winter,

The D. regia are now all into new growth. I mean every pot as there are still some growth points holding back just in case. They'll catch up in time. Here's a selection.

Well it was sitting there looking good so I just had to take some macros. This is the one that attempted to escape from its pot. Cute isn't it.

Well I had a dead bee ( tried for two days to help it) and a dead beetle ( Garden Chafer was destroying roses with its mates),so they weren't wasted. D. regia doesn't seem to appear to care where they came from

Never tried it Jeff. There's always a spare root to play with when one gets re-potted.

With dormancy not too far off and never that successful for me I have a question, how wet ( or dry) do you keep your regia's whilst dormant

Not too far off? A big wadge of mine are asleep already.
I just put a little water in the tray when I remember corky. Shall we call it houseplant treatment.

Still going here Fred, but think they started later than yours, this is the FG1988 clone , in a different class to my other clone this year

The D. regia are still champing at the bit to get going. I'll have to finish cleaning the old leaves off.
