Looking good! It's interesting to see you growing those in peat - I always thought this species had a strong affinity for live Sphagnum.

Ive grown them for a fair few years now and only in peat based mixes, either with sand or perlite. Mine are flowering now but I cheated and grew them under lights for the winter.

From conversations with our fellow growers over the pond, it should be noted that the UK marketed peat is regarded as significantly better quality than its counterpart in the US.

Continuing from an earlier post, these are the two pots of D. slackii potted at the same time with the same media and are in the same lagoon 4" apart. Why one pair are in full growth and sending up their inflorescence and the other is having to regenerate from the roots is anyone's guess. If anyone tries to tell you horticulture is an exact science turn away before you chuckle or the poor dear may be offended.

Just a macro of buds, I think they're often as attractive as the flowers.

Mine are not looking so good yet. They spent the winter unheated and it knocked them back a bit. They're all in one of the 3 litre long toms now so they should perk up very soon. Just a sample. They're not huge but they're healthy.

Mine spent winter on a windowsill and have only been outside a couple of weeks , your plants surviving this cold winter is a good thing

I'm nowhere near the flowering stage this year. There is a cracking crop of rosettes forming though

Finally I managed to catch one open. The photos were taken about two hours apart.

I need to try giving my plant a winter to see if I get flowers.
