Wow! Those have really progressed on from your first post in this thread Corky.
It doesn't appear that the brighter exposure has hurt it any.
I believe they are sporelings until they become ferns, which occurs once they are mature enough to produce spores.

Cheers people, it's one of my more successful threads for sure ,so it looks like I'm gonna have to hold off the promotion and refer to them as sporelings for maybe sometime

Earlier in this thread Doug mentioned red fronds being a desirable trait some of these plants can exhibit think this sporeling is starting to oblige ,which is nicey nice

It's a beauty, to be sure. And a keeper, and hopefully a future spore bearer as well. Was only able to find one pic online of red fronds on this species, and in that pic, the red faded in the middle on the older leaves, leaving just a blush of red on the outer edges of the oldest fronds. Now i'm really looking forward to seeing how your's progresses from here. dvg

Be a good look if I manage to grow it to a larger plant and have a flush of multiple red fronds against the older green , but with my luck the red is probably a terminal fungus attack this'll do

Think these have grown their final fronds for the year, so a pic of the largest plant some of the others aren't too far behind

I've decided to repot the two largest plants and place them under lights for the winter months, they did well under lights last winter and I have plenty of spares outside, looks like the larger pot size was just in time ,nice to see a healthy root system

Cheers Doug, the November frosts I was so blasé about made short work of the tender new growth on both the b. magellanicum and b. cycadifolium

Yes, the hard frosts can play havoc on the tenders.
I take it the hardened off growth pulled through.
Have you followed Steve's lead and wrapped any through the chilly winter months?
Cheers,
Doug dvg
