Meanwhile, as this clone prepares its centre rosette for the upcoming restive respite from active growing, her dear old heterophylla father has decided to drop in for a visit - i mean it's no big deal, as he resides closeby, just one pot over Her apple has fallen so far from daddy's family tree, that some might even question her mama's fidelity... dvg

This clone is slowly winding down its growing season. But doesn't seem to be in a hurry to make the compact rosette centre yet, either. dvg

This clone's new leaves are shrinking in size, so i suppose it has a resting rosette planned out somewhere in the back of its mind. Meanwhile, one of its sibling counterparts is well ahead of schedule in its 4" pot. dvg

That's what I really like about this cross, the exceptional colour and the changing leaves. Gorgeous plants.

; From the flower pic on October 3rd 2021 in this thread; from the seed capsule pic from Oct. 14th, 2021; and from the rosette shown on Dec. 11th, 2021, these are the only two seedlings that resulted from that pollination attempt. The seeds were placed on a moist coffee filter, which was then placed atop a folded paper towel. These were placed into a sealable kitchen bag, and this placed under lights. dvg

Maybe not a complete chameleon, but it does blend in with its surroumdings. A hairy rosette... dvg

These next two pics are from Jan.19, 2022, the night i decided to shoot some final photos before taking leaf pulls for propagation. The plant looks healthy enough here but i discovered why it was reluctant to phase into a dormant structure...it was already a dead man walking. The older leaf pulls all had about a quarter inch of dried brown dead growth at each of their bases. I started taking more and more of the newer leaves, but sadly they too had begun to brown at their bases as well. In a last ditch effort to save this clone from being lost forever, i inspected the newest leaves and took a chance at propagating them, including the last two remaining miniscule leaf nibs that i gave very little chance of success because of their diminutive size. Within days all of the leaf pulls had turned fuzzy grey with fungus...except for those two small and very last leaves. This is one of them from today, which i am still holding out hope that it will still strike...and there is a small "baby" bump near the base. Failing that, these two miracle babies are all that will remain of that particular moranensis x heterophylla clone. dvg

Wow....how horrible to lose such an amazing looking plant. At least there is a glimmer of hope. Fingers crossed!

Wow....how horrible to lose such an amazing looking plant. At least there is a glimmer of hope. Fingers crossed! Yeah, it appears that those leaf pulls were taken just in the nick of time - a day or two later and it probably would have been already too late to save. But as long as you have a chip and a chair, you still have a chance... dvg

One of these clones wants to get started with a flower. It was left bone dry, but will be given water now. dvg

Water has been given, and though the flower appears to be in no hurry, new leaves are now emerging from this "bulb's" crown. dvg
