That's an unfortunate turn of events Fred.
Aside from the time, money, materials and efforts we put into our plant hobbies, we also invest a fair part of our heart and soul into them as well.
I see you went all in with a very tempting choice of bait ...hopefully that puts an end to those rodent rotter's mischief and misdeeds.

Bet it's a humane no kill trap, or have you gone barbaric? Shame about the seedlings

I removed the traps last weekend with no results. However, today I found two mice in a half filled rainwater bucket under the lagoons. How they got in there is a mystery but it explains why there was no further damage to the other mesembs in that greenhouse.

Just to be different this seedling has decided two leaves aren't enough. It's usually the other way around. This group is a small pot I put the lithops wrecklings in when repotting the 'mixed seed' tray. They were tiny and very difficult to handle. Looking at them now I'm happy that the time and trouble I took with them was worthwhile. OK so they're quite a bit smaller than their big brothers but size isn't everything. Well apparently some think it is in certain circumstances but we'll not delve into that.

Most tri-lobes slim down to bi-lobes, whilst this ambitious chappie has opted for further expansion. They never cease to amaze! dvg
