I found this colourful carapace on a stake a "Tom Thumb" nasturtium ( that's another story ) has decided to scramble up. I took the two photos then tried to see what it was. Naturally it fell off where my awaiting hand wasn't so it's gone. ID was easy however and confirms it as a pest. I only have one pot of lavender out of all the plants it is a pest of, which also includes rosemary, sage and thyme. so I do wonder why it's here.

Amazing colours , can't remember seeing one of them before, looks from the future,those rivets are tiny

I’ve seen one of those on my Rosemary bush this year. I’ve also seen Shield bugs on Toad Flax that is growing on my gravel patch.
