On return from the Northern climes on Sunday, all appeared well on the plant front. Yesterday, however, I noticed signs that we had another intruder. Someone had been digging in a pot I was preparing a Paeony in prior to planting in the garden. The humane traps were prepared, this time using Cadbury's milk chocolate. The rainwater bucket was emptied and as a secondary safeguard a couple of sticks added to allow exit. The result this morning was I believe I have located the access point to the greenhouse and have inserted a temporary wooden block. Wee Jeemy was released and went with a zooooooooom. Probably assisted by an overdose of chocolate

MrsG found a gnawed hole at the back of the greenhouse so I duly fitted a temporary wooden bung. It turns out the bung was a bit more temporary than anticipated, we found it about 6" from the hole this morning. Several mesemb pots were overturned, luckily no plant damage noticed except for them needing re-potted. The culprit. A small bag of mortar is required.

A 5kg plastic tub of mortar procured and all holes filled. Until the next time

Hopefully this one was trapped inside when I sealed the hole. Perhaps I need to borrow some of Hannah's grass snakes 😇

I can find no holes so the ones being caught now must have been in there already ( fingers crossed) At least they're getting smaller.

Ummmmmmm another one. I'm beginning to wonder if the peanut butter is attracting them into the greenhouse. If only I could find their access.

On Thursday night, one of the traps had its bait removed. Peanut butter on bread and it didn't even touch the sides. It must have been Wee Jeemy Houdini.

He did it again. One tripped trap with no food or mouse in it.
I've deployed a different type of humane trap.

You need trail cam on that trap to see how the little Houdini is doing it.
