The old 4 tier / converted to 3 tier mini house was definitely worse for wear. I noted yesterday morning that several of the metal support rods were rusted through. I had a spare two tier mini house and as I was just growing Darlingtonia seedlings in the old one no further tiers were required. The old mini house was quickly broken down and then MrsG decided one of the rain water storage barrels would be better moved along. Emptied and moved, the new position proved her correct ( of course). The 2 tier house is now a one tier house and looking just fine. It still retains its clear plastic cover with the door hard netted to prevent Blackbirds stealing all the sphagnum. Some of the seedlings are also sending up flower stems. Note to self:- Nematode treatment would be advisable this autumn

Fred, it sounds like you've had issues with the nematodes before.
What is your recommended treatment for controlling their numbers?

The Nematodes are the cure for Tortrix moth Doug.
This year the Tortrix have attacked the Darlingtonia and a few Sarracenia, any plant that tends to retain pitchers to a second year.
The resultant holes and frass is somewhat unsightly.
It would appear that they've renamed it to Nemasys Natural Fruit and Veg Protection

Not to be outdone by the Sarracenia, the Darlingtonia start their floriferous period.

The two plants, from the same batch of seed, with the darker flowers have been moved from the outside tiered (netted) growhouse into the top greenhouse. I've used the tickling stick on two separate occasions so far but I think I'll continue a little longer to try to ensure cross pollination and hopefully there will be a decent amount of seed this autumn. I really need to see what happens with these pitchers after overwintering in the green house now that the plants have matured. They're going to be cosseted for a while

Like caged Triffids, these plants are romping away in their new home. Anyone questioning the depth of medium these require? They're mature plants in half seed trays and there's a heck of a lot of individual plants.

Some are trying to escape. So far none have succeeded.
