Progressing nicely I've never bothered trying to get seed Doug. There are plenty rhizomes to take a piece off and it's much quicker. ( A serious consideration for the elderly)

Those are gorgeous! Apparently, pollinating these flowers is similar to pollinating mexi-ping flowers. I suppose if it self seeded easily, it might turn into a bit of a weed, and wear out its welcome, sooner than later. If the odometer has run up on your chronometer Fred, I don't see it... ...you're more young at heart, than most...by far! dvg

I have five flowers about to open on my reniformis, three in the pot that I thought they would be happy with, and two from the gravel tray under it, where it is escaping to.

That's wonderful Steve!
Fred, how are your plants doing this year?
Corky, do you still grow U. reniformis?

I've been meaning to answer this. Ooooops
The plants have shoved up plenty leaves this year but I need to get in there and re-pot the lot. They're not doing as well as they should have.

There might be something to that Fred. A repotting, might stimulate flowering, and will definitely revitalize the plant as it colonizes the fresh media in its pot. My ren-nel propagation attempt, when potted up, immediately sent up a flower stalk, while the mother plant hasn't flowered, but still sends out plenty of adventitious exploring stolons and green "leaves". I've heard this account from other growers as well, as in a mother plant not flowering but sending a stolon over into an empty adjacent pot and then the consequent growth in that pot, flowering soon after. If your plants don't cooperate with their usual yield of flowers this year Fred, we've still got Steve's flowers to look forward to as a backup. dvg

Thanks for that flower update Steve. Looks like you're going to have a bit of a flowering show there this year, with all of those reniformis flower stalks reaching skyward. dvg

The U. reniformis has decided it is time to get growing. I had hoped to devide and tidy the plant up, as it has escaped down the Sphagnum conduits and is now filling the water tray. I shall leave it till next year and trim the excess in the water tray. cheers steve

The plants have shoved up plenty leaves this year but I need to get in there and re-pot the lot. They're not doing as well as they should have. I finally got around to it. The pots where I'd used perlite to bulk out the sphagnum needed the main attention. The sphagnum had slowly decomposed leaving rhizomes in pure perlite. I've just used fresh sphagnum to repot. There were plenty rhizomes, I was worried at one point I'd need to use another pot. Luckily all went back into the same pots. Now we await the results.
