Last year I decided to transfer many of my Arisaema from pots to the garden. To facilitate drainage I took some wide tubs and cut the bottoms out, sank the bases a couple of inches in the garden soil and top filled, so giving some small raised beds. This was the first of the species to show and it's looking quite happy. There are several more plants not in shot. Photo taken April 26th

Now in flower in its raised bed The Fernery. I should have had them out there years ago. I didn't realise then just how hardy these plants are

Five weeks after the above and they're still sending up new growth in the Fernery.

This years crop are well on their way in their bottomless tub. Once they decide it's growing time they don't hold back

Some nice unnibbled spathes. The stem markings are always pristine.

Only the three flowers this year, one of which has been got at. They've been out now for about a week so the return of the beast from the east didn't bother these.
