I planted several tubs of bulbs up on September 30th. I used all fresh potting medium. On my return from Scotland on October 31st I found these little fellows beginning to colonise the tubs. So they're under a month old and already have gemmae pots open. I'd say they were a bit opportunist . There's well over 50 separate plants already.

I potted up some Dwarf Hostas a couple of months ago and topped the medium off with crushed glass. I was hoping that the glass would deter slugs and snails, I was wrong. However Marchantia polymorpha seems to like this media and is rapidly making inroads around the pot margin. The Marchantia looks very healthy and thanks to the somewhat inclement weather of late, the gemmae pots are virtually empty. I think I have quite a crop to look forward to. Where that crop will be however is the next thing.
