Just back from a week in Scotland and no it wasn't a holiday. MrsG kept having these visitors in the early morning so all photos are by her, taken from the sitting room window. Please excuse the graininess but as I said, it was early morning and shot through glass.

That's very nice, all we get is next doors dogs. It looks like a sort of stock proof fence, are they meant to be this side?
Cheers Steve

The fence was to keep sheep and horses out. It is a little skip and jump for the deer.

This one wasn't too bothered when MrsG went out to sort the bird food. I suppose anything that attracts prey is a good thing. Photo by MrsG

Is it a sparrow hawk ? I was lucky tonight , I got to watch an owl hunting for quite a while, a rare sight for me

Yes corky. I thought it was a female but these two are labelled up as male and juvenile male

For some time MrsG has been reporting that something is taking food from one of her feeding stations overnight. The initial thought is vermin but it would need quite a number of mice or rats to remove the amount. It also seemed that the grain was not affected, it was mainly bread (wholemeal of course) and dried fruit ( sultanas and occasionally currants). Cats are often seen eating the bread but would they eat sultanas?

This morning she spotted this shape at that station. Then it becomes rather clear. Photos courtesy of MrsG, she asks for the graininess to be excused, there's not a great deal of light that early.

It even came down to sample more sultanas.

It then left so MrsG replaced the food it had taken. So it came back I really must get the glass in the greenhouses cleaned. Note: This is at the Mansfield house not the Scottish country cottage
