A few years ago I decided to try a few aquatic plants in buckets. A couple of Utricularia and Water Hawthorn ( fredg.boards.net/thread/90/aponogetum-distachyos-water-hawthorn ) were to be the main items. These 'clean' plants don't seem to have been that clean as I now have some thriving communities of Pond snails. there are Ramshorns in there somewhere but it's the big ones that are seen more often. They lie in wait and pounce as soon as anyone carrying lettuce ( salad type) gets within 10 metres of the buckets. They love it. They're also partial to a bit of cabbage too. The back view always makes me think of Yoda, strange that This bottom shot is out of the water, I'm sure it swore at me in snail.

Hi Fred
They are the almost indestructible (unless you have carp) Lynmaea stagnails very handy in ponds.
Cheers Steve
