Well it's finally that time of year when the outside plants start their flowering period. This year the first are the S. flava although there are buds starting to open on oreophila, purpurea and their hybrids.

Now this one is a S. flava x maxima, it has seven petals but a normal five point style. That will confuse the pollinators. once again apologies for the poor quality picture. Cheers Steve

The purpurea and leucophylla are now beginning to flower, including this seed grown leucophylla Donald Schnell x purpura ssp. venosa, var. Burkeii, f. luteoa, the seed obtained from Christian Klein and this is the first time it has flowered for me. With that parentage I wasn't expecting the red tinge. Cheers Steve

The red tinge seems to intensify.

More or less all varieties of Sarracenia are now flowering, so we have almost the full gambit of colours from almost white, through the various yellows, oranges to the deep reds.

Well the leucophylla and purpurea and their hybrids inflorescences are following the flava and oreophila, with just the minors and rubra that are now in bud to come, I haven't made any crosses this year, but will save some seed and grow them next years to see what hybrids the pollinators have created. Shot this morning across some of the bogs. Cheers Steve

A particularly poor picture of another 6 petaled mutant flower having a normal five point style, taken with a mobile on the allotment.
