The sunflowers are growing tall (about 7-8 feet at present) and are developing flower heads. Attachments:

Do you dry the flowers out and hang them up for the birds , that's what I've done in the past but not growing any this year

I usually let them dry on the plants as long as possible so the birds can get at them, then either when the seeds start falling, or more commonly the plant stem breaks, I gather the heads, save some seed for next year and use the rest on the bird tables over winter. There is a bumble bee on the flower, she was there for a good 15 min, just doesnt show up well in the poor light. Cheers Steve

I thought I'd try the smaller Sunflowers this year. I planted 10 seed and got 10 plants. They're not quite knee high so I'll use the rest of the seed in the wildflower tub next year.
