Anacamptis pyramidalis (The Pyramidal Orchid), is found as a small to medium sized deciduous terrestrial in grasslands, limestone, chalk deposits or in dune systems in Central and Southern Europe. As a British native it can be regarded as hardy. They are ususally found in full sun and have linear to oblong-lanceolate, acute, canaliculate leaves, blooming in summer on an up to 2ft (60 cm) long, erect, crowded, many flowered, pyramidal inflorescence with linear-lanceolate, acuminate floral bracts and many, colour variable, fragrant flowers with a musky odour.
