Not yet but it's on the cards for the weekend, and it just seems to be the newest growth, if I had protected them I'm fairly sure it would of hardened off as it was one early hard frost , I seem to live but not learn

off the starting blocks, pretty much all the plants are sending up new fronds, the plants that are the slowest to show new growth are the largest plants I had under lights for the winter. The plants under lights didn't grow any more fronds which is weird as they were the same plants I pampered under lights last winter and they grew loads, I suspect it's either because they got frost bite or because they were to the side of the lights, moral of the story is don't try too hard ,half of the plants have had a repot until I ran out of pots so the smallest are still in little pots,I used half peat and half ericaceous compost so will see how they like that

That unfurling frond looks like a scrumptious scampi prawn, awaiting a generous pat of melted butter with garlic, salt and pepper...
...but alas a lot of ferns are toxic, and inedible.

Pretty sure this is the plant that had red new leaves from last year, this year in a sunnier position they are more of a bronze so I'm not sure if that's down to age of the plant or the sunnier position

An update on this nicely coloured plant I've got a few more now showing bronze/reddish new growth but still small plants, and this is the best looking plant at the moment, the largest plant from last year I put in full shade and it was promptly destroyed by slugs overnight, fingers crossed it will recover ,good job I have spares

well this year has been a test, I've had plants in almost all day sun at 38c and a good few days in the 30's and they've survived, problems with moth larvae, not ideal and lost a few plants but most have managed to endure my bad treatment

Well I think its safe to say I have a lot less of these to grow this year, the harsh winter has seen to that for me but then it could be drying out too much in the winter as we had a long dry spell ,either way the end result is a drastically whittled down fern farm
