I put a silly bid in for a job lot of Mesembs on ebay and guess what. No one else bid . There are 25 pots full of plants - bid £4.99 postage £3. Watch this space for updates on what it contains. I have a feeling that space is the big issue here

Gee, i don't know Fred, that sounds serious... ...you might have to enlist the help of an expert there With bags and broom, she fills the bin,
Flytraps, Sarra''s....swiftly swept in,
bags sealed, by her wrists with a spin,
MrsG shows Fred...
...all the space she's freed him!

Ok so this box arrived today packed full of goodies. I've been a little busy potting so I'll not show all of them at once. First up are the only Lithops, Lithops otzeniana.
Note that I've given everything a mist spray to clean off the dust. That double header's pattern struck me as the Batman sign so that's it's nickname for now Next up, Frithia pulcra
These little fellows are very small but they have flowered in the past. This leads me to think that they are Frithia pulcra minima which would make them older than they look and quite rare. Also a reputation for being difficult goes with that. Next, Lapidaria margretaeA few to play with Now for a tray full of :- Left - Neohenricia sibbettiiRight - Trichodiadema densumThe Neohenricia sibbettii I was delighted to get. I've been looking for one in the UK so now I have enough to keep me going. This miniature has flowers with a scent (pineapple) at night the strength of which belies its size. I'll be looking forward to that. Neohenricia sibbettiiTrichodiadema densum looks like a cactus but it is a succulent. Those are hairs on the ends of the leaves not spines so they're not evil like Opuntias There's a few more pots of these still to take photos of. To be continued..................

Trichodiadema densumPlus another couple of pots. I think they're all the same species but I stand to be corrected. Now for the mysteries. So far the IDs have been (educated?) guesses as the only decipherable label was with the easiest to identify, the Lithops otzeniana. JL1 a lot of small plants. seedlings or adult? Now there's at least one different to the majority in there. A closer view of one pot There's also this pot lurking in the back JL2JL3JL4 The latter three are similar but are they identical. It may be easier to decide when they've been given a little tlc. To be continued..........

Next up Three species of Faucaria. ( Perhaps I should have said Faucaria type?).These are single plants and judging by the old leaves on the branches they are no spring chickens. A closer view of some of the old leaves A singleton of what looks like another species. Pleiospilos nelii These look like P. nelii so they're labelled as such. These others look like Pleiospilos also but not P. nelii. Pleiospilos compactus? JL5 Now this one I should know. I'm certain I've seen it before but I can't think where. I'll remember at about 3 am . Aloinopsis luckhoffiiTo be continued..............

The final straight JL6 - Deilanthe peersii aka Aloinopsis peersiiI had to split this one to get the pieces into reasonably sized pots. Hopefully the small piece will root up well. JL7JL8JL9 - The stick This arrived looking quite dead. The old leaves were just surrounding the stem and branches. ( MrsG volunteered to help me save space with this one) After cleaning up and potting it looks a little better. It will be interesting to see what it turns out to be. I suppose I didn't do too badly for my £7.99 total investment . And believe me, I was surprised to find I still have a little room left Any hints/guesses on IDs would be appreciated and if confirmed will be added to the thread

Odds bodkins! That's a fine assortment of oddballs and succulent mysteries! Great to see that you were able to fit them all in, and still have space for more. Best of luck with them all, Fred. dvg

One of the Pleispilos has decided to send up a new pair of leaves. It looks familiar (Sorry, I couldn't resist. Besides dvg will like it) Click

Now certainly wouldn't feel confident playing poker with him.
He could be holding a royal flush in diamonds...
...and you wouldn't guess it with that stone-faced countenance.
