This is a new arrival that is not much to look at now, but i will post progress reports as it continues to grow out, colonizing its pot and hopefully flowering, in time. dvg

U. praetermissa has settled in and is now sending up new leafy stolons. These new stolons have longer legs and more pronounced veins than the photosynthetic stolons that this plant arrived with. It is similar in appearance to U. alpina, except this praetermissa will have rounder shaped flowers, when flowering occurs. dvg

This plant has also made a few new leaves, since its arrival, and is currently unfurling its freshest new addition. dvg

A U. praetermissa flower stalk emerges from the moss, the first sign of flowering since it arrived here. I have to state here that this plant is a a vigorous grower and fairly hardy, having endured nightly lows down to 6°c, with daytime highs steady around 19°c, during the winter months. Mostly, those winter nights here were providing this species with temps consistently below 10°c, but now with spring here, the temps have risen to about 12°c overnight, with the weather's warming outside. When the moss was pulled back around the edge of this species pot, there was so much undergrowth of bladder-traps and stolons, that it reminded me of the growth of my alpina.

Wanted to show another update on this plant's developing flower stalk The flower stalk was getting too close to the lights, so it was moved away so it wasn't directly under them, but just off to the side. The bracts did get a bit singed, but everything always seems greener on the other side... dvg

Haha Corky, now that's a burn! There was a time before sunscreen, when i was a naive teenager, that I spent too long under our UV tanning light, and quickly looked liked a Trumpian raccoon, except instead of orange skin with white eyes, my hue was bright boiled lobster red. dvg

Here is the latest update on this praetermissa, with newest leaf stolon almost installed, and first flower getting there. Corky, you were right about getting too close to the lights - the first couple of flower buds aren't looking like they will bloom. I gently squeezed the final flower bud and there is plenty of meat between those buns, so fairly confident that there'll be a flower to share here. dvg

Still waiting for that seemingly glacial first flower to fully open, and another flower stalk will offer the chance to save all the blooms, the second time. dvg
