This is my most advanced Dactylorhiza. It self set itself in a pot in one of the Sarracenia lagoons in the middle greenhouse.

This is about to put on a serious flowering show.
How long do the individual blooms last Fred?
Do the bottom blooms fade before the top flowers open?

It will be a good show on most of the spike before the bottom flowers fade Doug

The spike is filling up nicely. The scent is now noticeable as soon as you enter the greenhouse. Wonderful!

Very impressive how well the first flowers are holding up still, with just a few blooms left to go.
Fred, have you noticed any pollinators attracted to its flowers?

It's in a Sarracenia lagoon Doug. I don't think the pollinators stand a chance.

I think this photo answers your question about the inflorescence sequencing Doug.

If it was surrounded by Saint Herc the Beneficent, the pollinators would have a fighting chance...

Already he's scenting his lagoon.

We were becoming concerned about Dacti this year as he seemed to be a little late sticking his nose out. I spotted his little snout forcing its way through the LIverworts this morning so cleared a small area around him and added a little dressing. Life should be less of a struggle for him for the rest of the season now.
