The cows and calves were just released into this pasture, and waded through the tall grass, making a beeline for the clover growing along the fenceline. Needless to say, there is no shortage of flies around here in the summer. dvg

O Scarab beetles? That is interesting - Carl Jung would have had a field day with this. Rumor has it that a species of mushroom, P. cubensis, has a commensal relationship with cattle and their dung, but doesn't particularly much care for the predigested contributions from horses ... dvg

I don't think the dung beetles need to be psychoanalysed they're perfectly content to be in the brown stuff.
