I imported a couple of Ruschia cuttings from Spain, R. uncinata and R. maxima. They're unrooted so we'll see how they progress. In the meantime I found this R. uncinata as a three year old plant from wild collected seed. It looks, at present, that the plant thinks it's destined to grow up to be a fan. The stake is just for support until its roots set a good foundation in the pot.

This is my cutting of Ruschia maxima. It's showing signs that it's rooting but I'm not going to tip it out yet All we have to do now is get it to it's full height (1.5m) and flowering

R. maxima looks like it's putting up another pair of leaves. Fingers crossed

The R. uncinata is putting out flower buds. It also has a little friend

Well, the Ruschia uncinata opened one of its flowers today. On a first showing it's not pushing out its petals so we'll have to see what it does tomorrow. They're not the showiest of flowers but they are supposed to push out the petals.

What a weird plant. The petals pushed out a little more. Then it decides it's closing time but it leaves the petals and just closes the sepals. Finishing up with an unruly hairstyle.

And try as it could,
it still not would
Hmmm, just wondering if it wants more heat and sunlight to fully open that flower.
Could be just a poor clone specimen too, sadly it happens often enough.

It deserves an A for effort, anyway.
Still a whole lotta egg white left there, guess we'll see what the morrow brings.
