My wife likes Hibiscus flowers and has three of these plants. From time to time, i've tried to cross pollinate the flowers, but nothing ever came from those attempts. That changed, earlier this year, when three furry seeds were harvested from a dried seed capsule. The seeds were placed in a damp coffee fliter, inside a sealed bag. After about two weeks had passed, one of the seeds had germinated and was potted up... ...the other two failed to germinate after a month and were disposed of. Here is the lone Hibiscus seedling, with cotyledon leaves. And here is a link for pollinating the flowers - it was a little more involved than I had first imagined. An update on this seed grown hibiscus. Have recently been feeding it to get it growing again. It had stalled out with small pale leaves, before it began getting fed regularly. dvg

Another update on this Hibiscus seedling. It has really taken off since it began getting regular feedings of dilute fertilizer. It will be going into a slightly larger pot soon Looking forward to seeing some flowers once it puts some size on its current spindly frame. dvg
