That's actually a new alien , my original was l.karasmontana but that's still there too, think there's two l.karasmontana aliens and one l.otzeniana, more traditional to have a green alien

Last year's late sowing, all cleaned up. The two brown seedlings in with the 'Malachite' are strays from the L. gesinae v annae on the left. The purplish one is a L. salicola and it's the right colours to be a 'Sato's Violet' aka 'Bacchus'I wonder if I have enough L. dorotheae

This years crop ain't looking too shabby, l.optica v.rubra and not many plants of l.salicola malachite form but then there weren't that many seeds either

Sadly I have to announce the passing of the violet L. salicola. It's looking very suspiciously like it has been selected and cropped by a passing gastropod. Only that one plant was selected from the middle.

l. Salicola malachite form l .optica rubra is now showing some nice deep colour on some of the plants ,a double header has already appeared in the top left of the pic and some are green and I don't know if they'll turn red or not I'll just have to wait and see. They've both been growing in a shady ish window and I plan to move them to a more southerly sunny position at some point maybe late autumn or early winter ready to acclimatise for next year

The results of last years mixed seed. Three plants lost since repotting. I'm happy with this result.

l.optica v.rubra at the moment, looking a bit crowded and I was considering splitting them up into two pots and putting one under lights for the winter on a fairly short eight or ten hour daylight as that's what some other plants require. I've read they might benefit from this

Some nice green L. optica there too corky . L. optica rubra is regarded by some to be closer to Conophytum growth period, ie. winter growing. If you have space, put the lot under lights. 👍

Thanks for your input ,would you carefully split them into two pots at this small size to give them more room or would you wait until they are larger ? Is root damage going to be an issue do you think?

I'd wait until next season for a repot.

One of the C-numbers of Lithops otzeniana sown last Monday. There are three plants that are obvious but there's more germinated

Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr! Just found three trays of Lithops seedlings gone. Or should I say I found three trays without Lithops seedlings in them. All was good last week but today it was obvious there was a problem. The roots were lying on top of the compost with no head . This isn't grazing by a gastropod, they just take off the heads. Whatever this culprit is, I suspect rodent, has pulled the entire plant out before consuming the heads and those roots were well established Dagnabbit, that's a hundred plants gone Edit: Trap set baited with milk chocolate raisins 👼
