I didn't expect to get this one, for some reason no-one else bid. A couple of weeks ago they were fighting over one. Titanopsis calcarea cv Bizarre. The Bizarre bit is the flower. This one has to be reproduced vegetatively, not by seed yet for some reason I've seen the photos used by seed merchants.

I really like this cultivar for some reason.
I just stare at it and get lost in awe.
Fred, you should sow some of those seeds to see how far the road apples roll from that pink elephant.

A nice surprise when I went down to replace the propagator domes on the Lithops seedlings.

Titanopsis luederitziiI was watering this little chappie this morning and thinking its skin looks very reptilian.

Titanopsis luederitziiI was watering this little chappie this morning and thinking its skin looks very reptilian. Or like broccoli going bad. I thought the same thing about these plants too Fred. That pebbly texture is why this is one of my favorite succulent genera. dvg

I'm with David Icke on this one, alien reptiles, shape shifted to plant form, awaiting their moment to break out and take over the world. Lock the greenhouse door Fred.

One of the seed pods on T. calcarea Bizarre started to open so I finished the job and sowed the relatively large (for a Mesemb) seed. Amazingly it's started to germinate so it will be interesting to see the results in a couple of years time. Bizarre reportedly doesn't come true from seed. The worst case scenario is I finish up with standard T. calcarea plants/flowers which in itself can't be bad.
