The " hardy" Delosperma didn't look too good after the winter but are recovering quite well. Delosperma esterhuyseniaeThe D. bosseranum foliage was obliterated with the frosts. I now have one plant I've seen with green on it. Many have been binned which is probably just as well as they were taking up far too much space. We'll see how it goes with the remainder.

I checked out the remaining D. bosseranum and found three with green on them. The roots look very good so I've potted the three and dumped the rest. At least it'll keep the seed in the thousands this year.

Delosperma 'Sunstone' or to give it its full title Delosperma 'Jewel of the Desert - Sunstone'. This is one of the so called "Hardy" Delosperma. A big bonus to the colour is that it's flowers are Liquorice/aniseed scented when open in the sun. The plant is in a 5" pot so there are a few flowers open just now. I may be tempted to go back for a couple of the other colours 😇

The first flower on D. 'Yellow Ice'. I acquired half a dozen plugs last month. The flower is considerably larger than that of JOTD Sunstone

No objection to the heatwave with the Mesembs.

I obtained a mixed batch of plugs a few weeks ago. The Royal Mail really liked these as they hung onto them for a week. The plants have recovered very well as they had a substantial root system. Here's one of the colours. The pot is sitting outside and I think the plants prefer it there.

The pot is sitting outside and I think the plants prefer it there. They are fairly hardy, and are nicknamed "Ice Plants", although we can only grow them as summer annuals here, due to our colder winters. We grew them as bedding plants in a sun-baked flowerbed one season, and they did quite well there. dvg

The 'Ice' in 'Ice Plants' has nothing to do with hardiness Doug. It refers to the swollen epidermal bladder cells reflecting the light to give the appearance of ice crystals.
These plants are warm-weather perennials or as seed sold here, half hardy annuals.

Fred, would it be possible for you to capture an image of "the swollen epidermal bladder cells reflecting the light to give the appearance of ice crystals" in a pic?
